Hess Engineering and its sister companies underwent a corporate restructuring, merging together to form Hess Industries. Hess contracted LKF to develop identity materials and assist with messaging for the duration of the transition. The refurbished identity needed to effectively target multiple industries while simultaneously tying all subsidiaries together while still emulating the Hess organization.
Hess wanted LKF's expertise to devise and name a new business unit offering prototyping and short term production of spin form metal parts to the filtration, marine, construction, and automotive industries. LKF developed a branding plan and dubbed the unit "Formitt Metal Labs" because of Hess' ability to spinform metal into a variety of shapes.
Other projects for Hess include, but are not limited to:
LKF created a corporate identity that accurately reflects the company's commitment to customer satisfaction and ability to provide innovative manufacturing solutions. Resulting projects featured metal-like qualities with a modern, high technology look and feel. The new image was well received by both Hess and the market it serves.
LKF devised an intricate plan for Hess' new website that included enhanced navigation, updated user interface, advanced functionality, and dynamic graphics. These modifications would improve interactivity of the site as well as the new database-driven applications and content management tools.
The completed website featured a sophisticated creative design that emulates the Hess organization. The site contains a significant amount of highly organized technical content and product information suitable for a niche audience.
The website has been well received by customers and other industry players, generating more than 7,000 visits by more than 5,600 unique visitors from August 2006 through January 2007. The site even earned LKF honors in the 2007 WebAward Competition for outstanding website design.
Targeted at the automotive sector with the objective of stimulating traffic to the company's booth at various tradeshows. LKF produced two distinctive, oversized postcards emphasizing Hess' prototyping capabilities and the many benefits of its performance-proven machinery. A majority of recipients read the information before discarding the piece, because of the high impact of mailer. The postcards resulted in increased visits to the Hess booths at the tradeshows; some guests even had the mailer in hand when they stopped by the booth.
